Tuesday, April 19, 2022

[OCEAN PINES, MD, APRIL 19, 2022] —At approximately 11:30 am on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, the Ocean Pines Vol. Fire Department was alerted for a vehicle fire in the 10 block of Wood Duck drive. Worcester Central advised that the caller could see a car in their neighbor's driveway on fire.
A OPVFD Fire Police Lieutenant arrived on scene first and confirmed a fully involved vehicle fire. The initial engine crew was able to put a knock on the fire; however, a short time later, the vehicle's gas tank ruptured, causing injuries to three firefighters The three firefighters were transported to AGH for evaluation of non-life-threatening injuries and have since been released.
After fully extinguishing the vehicle fire, the scene was turned over to the Worcester County Fire Marshal's Office for further investigation.
The OPVFD would like to thank all our neighboring departments who assisted today on scene as well as provided EMS coverage for the community while our units were out of service due to the injuries.
