At 4:25pm on Thursday October 7, 2021, the Ocean Pines Vol. Fire Department was alerted for an individual locked in the bathroom at Rite Aid; Worcester Central advised the individual was okay and not suffering from any injuries. Second Assistant Chief Mather established command while crews investigated and learned the store did not have keys to the door. Utilizing forcible entry skills usually reserved for making entry into structures during a fire, the crews were able successfully make entry to the bathroom. The individual involved refused medical treatment. After disabling the door locking mechanism, the scene was turned over to store management.
