The Ocean Pines Volunteer Fire Department was requested to assist with a lost minke whale on Thursday, February 23rd. The National Aquarium of Baltimore was the requesting agency. The whale was stranded in a creek off of Rt. 589 and Gum Point Road. Ocean Pines crews assisted with freeing and transporting the minke whale to a suitable location for the Aquarium officials to take the whale away.
