Double Fatal MVC- Mutual Aide to Showell

At 3:14am on Saturday, June 13, 2020, the Ocean Pines Vol Fire Department was alerted to provide mutual aide to Showell VFD for a very serious motor vehicle accident on Whaleyville Rd (Rt. 610) w/ additional Paramedic and Rescue units requested from Bishipville and Willards VFDs. Ocean Pines Paramedic A1 and Rescue 11 responded and Worcester County Sheriff and Chief Jarrett Widgeon (Showell) advised 2 vehicles with 5 patients and multiple extrications required. Maryland State Police Medevac, Trooper 4 was requested. After extensive extrication that required the use of multiple hydraulic tools(Jaws of Life/Spreaders/Cutters/Rams) and numerous operators, three patients were transported by ambulance to local hospitals while one was flown from the scene. One patient was pronounced on the scene, a second was pronounced at the hospital. The scene was turned over to the Worcester County Sheriffs office and the MD State Highway Administration to complete the investigation.
