At 9:05pm on Friday, June 26, 2020, the Ocean Pines Vol. Fire Department was alerted for a motor vehicle accident w/rollover on the North Gate bridge. Chief Grunewald was the first to arrive on scene, confirming a single vehicle accident with one car  on its roofs in the center of the bridge and the sole occupant out of their vehicle. Arriving fire and paramedic units checked the driver for injuries and secured the scene, checking for leaking fluids as well as completing an initial visual inspection of the bridge. The driver refused treatment and transport and after an extended period of cleanup, the scene was turned over to the Maryland State Police for further investigation.
