Elevator Rescue

July 17, 2020

At 2:45pm on Friday, July 17, 2020, the Ocean Pines Vol. Fire Department was alerted for an elevator rescue. Engine 1102 responded and upon arrival, Lieutenant Heiser established command. Crews were able to quickly make entrance into the building's elevator room to disconnect the power to the elevator and use a specific elevator key to rescue a resident and their dog. Once all occupants were safely out of the elevator, the property management was notified of the rescue and the elevator was left out of service until the elevator maintenance company arrived. Command was terminated and all units returned to station.

Thankfully the occupant and their dog stayed calm and followed all of the steps needed for a safe rescue. Check out "What to Do If You're Trapped in an Elevator" for 7 things you can do to aid in your rescue!
