August 01, 2020

At 6:16am on Saturday, August 1, 2020, the Ocean Pines Vol. Fire Department was alerted for a motor vehicle accident in the Parking Lot of Food Lion on Manklin Creek Rd. Ocean Pines Paramedic units were first to arrive on scene, confirming a single-motorcycle accident with one rider. Chief Grunewald established command and requested that Heavy Rescue 11 respond. The patient, who was wearing a helmet, was evaluated for injuries and transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center for treatment. After a brief period of cleanup for leaking fluids and debris, the scene was turned over to the Worcester County Sheriff's office for further investigation.

As a reminder, "Always wear a helmet with a face shield or protective eye wear. Wearing a helmet is the best way to protect against severe head injuries. A motorcycle rider not wearing a helmet is five times more likely to sustain a critical head injury."- Geico Motorcycle Safety Tips
