At 10:38am on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, the Ocean Pines Vol. Fire Department along with Showell VFD, Berlin VFD, Bishopville VFD, and Ocean City VFC were alerted for a structure fire. Dispatch advised of a kitchen fire and requested the occupants of the house evacuate. Chief Grunewald was first on scene and reported smoke showing from the front door of the residence while Engine 1102 quickly deployed an inch and three quarter hoseline. The interior crew was able to quickly extinguish the fire and the Chief downgraded the incident to only a Ocean Pines response. The scene was turned over to the Worcester County Fire Marshal's Office for further investigation, and command was terminated.
