At 11:13pm on Friday, February 19, 2021, the Ocean Pines Vol. Fire Department was alerted for a single vehicle accident with rollover on west bound Rt 90/Ocean Expressway. 1100 Paramedic 2 was first to arrive on scene and confirmed a single vehicle on its roof with three occupants. Upon arriving on scene, Chief Grunewald established command and requested Engines 1101 & Heavy Rescue 11 take blocking positions. All patients self-extricated from the vehicle and after evaluations from paramedics, all patients refused further medical assistance.The scene was turned over to the Maryland State Police for further investigation. While the cause of the accident is not known at this time, crews responding to the incident noted icy conditions that made responding to the incident challenging. Always remember to slow down. It’s harder to control or stop your vehicle on a slick or snow-covered surface.
