At 9:16pm on Saturday, March 20, 2021, the Ocean Pines Vol. Fire Department was alerted for a motor vehicle accident with rescue. 1100 Paramedic 3 was first to arrive on scene and confirmed a single vehicle into a ditch with one occupant trapped. Due to vehicle stability issues, bystanders were applying weight to the vehicle to help ensure the vehicle did not roll on its side. Upon arriving on scene, Chief Grunewald established command and instructed Heavy Rescue 11 to initiatie stabilization efforts and assist paramedics with patient extrication. Once removed from the vehicle, crews utilized a stair chair to assist the occupant to the roadway due to preexisting mobility limitations. The occupant was evaluated by paramedics and denied further treatment. The scene was turned over to the Ocean Pines Police Department for further investigation.
