At approximately 6:26pm on Saturday September 17, 2022, the Ocean Pines Vol. Fire Department was alerted to assist the Showell Volunteer Fire Department with a motor vehicle accident on Ocean Expressway; Worcester Central advised of a single motorcycle accident with the rider still down. Upon arrival Chief Grunewald established command while the crews from Showell and Ocean Pines began to provide patient care. Maryland State Police Medical Helicopter, Trooper 4 was requested to provide transport to a trauma center in Baltimore. A landing zone for Trooper 4 was cleared directly on Ocean Expressway and once the patient was enroute to Baltimore, the scene was turned over to the Maryland State Police Department for further investigation.
