At approximately 7:28am on Thursday, June 22 2023, the Ocean Pines Vol. Fire Department was alerted to respond to a motor vehicle collision on Racetrack Road in the intersection of Manklin Creek Road and Racetrack Road; Worcester Central advised of a two vehicle, head-on accident.
Upon arrival, Ocean Pines Paramedics confirmed a two vehicle MVC w/out entrapment. Upon his arrival, Chief Steve Grunewald took command of the incident and requested responding fire apparatus to block the intersection to ensure scene safety. Both drivers were evaluated on scene and transported to Tidal Health in Salisbury for further medical treatment.
After securing power to both vehicles and clearing the roadway of debris, the scene was turned over to the Maryland State Police Department for further investigation.
STAY ALERT: While the cause of the accident is still under investigation, weather this morning was less than perfect. Reducing your speed will greatly improve your stopping distance if you need to brake suddenly. You'll also reduce the risk of hydroplaning. Please also avoid all distractions while driving and remember to drive the posted speed limit to give yourself and others sufficient time to react to changing conditions.
