Member Recognition

March 05, 2024

We were privileged to welcome Worcester County Commissioner Chip Bertino to help in celebrating Jack Panuska (Fire Police) for his remarkable 25 years of dedicated service to the Ocean Pines Community. Commissioner Bertino presented Jack with a commendation on behalf of the County Commissioners, highlighting his invaluable contributions. It was truly an honor to host Commissioner Bertino and receive recognition for our department's efforts.

We reserved special recognition for two exceptional individuals who have demonstrated unwavering commitment and leadership within our department. Steve Grunewald, our esteemed Past Chief and current 1st Assistant Chief, was honored for his 15 years of dedicated service to the OPVFD. Not only has Chief Grunewald been a cornerstone of our department, but he also distinguished himself as a top responder in 2023. In recognition of his outstanding leadership during his tenure as Fire Chief from 2016 to 2023, Chief Grunewald was presented with a commemorative shield/plaque, symbolizing our gratitude for his enduring contributions.

These individuals embody the spirit of selflessness and dedication that defines our department. Their tireless efforts and commitment to service inspire us all, and we are immensely grateful for their contributions to the Ocean Pines Volunteer Fire Department.
