?? Extreme Heat Warning – Stay Safe, Ocean Pines! ??

The Ocean Pines area is expected to experience dangerously high temperatures over the next 7 to 10 days. The Ocean Pines Volunteer Fire Department is urging everyone to take necessary precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses.

? Stay Safe Tips:

  • Stay Indoors: When possible, limit outdoor activities—especially during peak heat hours (10am–4pm). Consider indoor options for exercise, errands, and recreation.

  • Hydrate Often: Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you’re not thirsty. Avoid alcohol and caffeine as they can contribute to dehydration.

  • Dress Smart: Wear lightweight, loose-fitting, and light-colored clothing.

?? Delay Outdoor Chores:
Postpone yardwork, heavy labor, or recreational sports until early morning or after sunset when the sun’s rays are less intense.

?? Know the Signs of Heat-Related Illness:

?? Dehydration:

  • Dry mouth or extreme thirst

  • Headache or dizziness

  • Fatigue or dark-colored urine

??? Heat Stroke (Medical Emergency):

  • High body temperature (103°F or higher)

  • Hot, red, dry or damp skin

  • Rapid pulse

  • Confusion or fainting

?? If you or someone else shows signs of heat stroke, call 911 immediately and move the person to a cooler place.

Let's keep our community safe and healthy during this heat wave. Check on neighbors, seniors, and those without air conditioning.

Stay cool and stay safe,
Ocean Pines Volunteer Fire Department
