OPVFD News & Safety Update

April 14, 2026

Over the past 48 hours, the Ocean Pines Volunteer Fire Department has responded to four motor vehicle collisions in our community.

As we transition into spring, we typically see an increase in traffic—more visitors, more outdoor activity, and more time spent on the road. Unfortunately, that also means a higher risk for accidents.

We’re asking everyone to take a moment and refocus on safe driving habits:

Spring Driving Safety Tips:

  • Slow down — warmer weather is not a reason to speed
  • Stay off your phone — distracted driving is a leading cause of crashes
  • Watch for pedestrians & cyclists — more people are out and about
  • Maintain safe following distance — sudden stops happen fast
  • Never drive impaired — plan ahead if you’re going out

Our crews are always ready to respond—but prevention is the best protection.

Let’s work together to keep Ocean Pines safe.
