Emergency Notice: Scheduled Controlled Burn & Training Exercise on May 3, 2025

Ocean Pines, MD — The Ocean Pines Volunteer Fire Department (OPVFD) will be conducting a controlled burn and live fire training exercise on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 10510 Racetrack Road. Activities are scheduled to begin at approximately 8:00 AM and are expected to conclude in the early afternoon.

This vital training exercise provides OPVFD firefighters with hands-on experience in realistic fire scenarios, enhancing our ability to serve and protect the Ocean Pines community.

What Residents Should Expect:

• Smoke: Visible smoke will be present in the area during and after the operation. Smoke may continue to be visible from the remains of the structures for an extended period.

• Traffic Delays: Expect traffic congestion and possible delays along Racetrack Road near the training site.

• Emergency Vehicle Presence: Fire and support apparatus will be active in the area for the duration of the event.

Safety Notice:
Motorists and residents are urged to use caution when traveling along Racetrack Road and to avoid the area if possible to ensure the safety of both responders and the public.
