On Sunday, January 28, 2024, the Ocean Pines Volunteer Fire Department received an alert for a motor vehicle accident in the area of Windjammer Road and Newport Drive. Upon arrival, Ocean Pines Fire Chief Joey Widgeon established command of the incident and informed incoming units that one patient remained trapped in their vehicle, necessitating extrication. The crew of Rescue 11 promptly initiated stabilization of the vehicle and utilized Edraulic rescue spreaders and cutters to free the trapped patient.
Ocean Pines Paramedics assessed two patients on the scene and subsequently transported one to Tidal Health in Salisbury and the other to Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin. Following a brief cleanup, the scene was handed over to the Ocean Pines Police Department for further investigation.
