On January 8, 2010, the Ocean Pines Volunteer Fire Department was alerted to respond for a motor vehicle crash on Ocean Expressway east of Racetrack Road. First arriving EMS crews reported a single vehicle that a hit a tree with one person trapped in the vehicle. Firefighter worked to free the trapped victim to awaiting EMS. The patient was removed from the vehicle and transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma by Maryland State Police helicopter Trooper 4. Captain Bill Bounds had command.
