At 7:07pm on Wednesday, July 1, 2020, the Ocean Pines Vol. Fire Department was alerted for an EMS call for a subject that had fallen approximately 14 feet. Paramedics made contact with the patient and quickly determined that due to the severity of injuries, a Maryland State Police MedEvac Air Ambulance would need to be requested. Once MSP confirmed Trooper 4 was available, Chief Grunewald requested that Ocean Pines and Showell VFD's be alerted for a landing zone at Showell Park. After stabilization, the patient was transported to Showell Park and care of the patient was transferred to paramedics aboard MSP Trooper 4. Once the helicopter took flight, all units returned to their respective stations.
