On Sunday, September 27, 2020, the Ocean Pines Vol. Fire Department hosted a small boat rescue course taught by an instructor from the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute. Career and volunteer members worked together to learn best practices and procedures while operating on Rescue Boat 11. Those in attendance worked on patient packing while in the water, deploying throwbags and safety rings to patients in distress, retrieving patients from the water using a backboard and more. Our operators also practiced navigating in confined spaces and positioning the boat for patient/provider safety and removal.
