June 06, 2022
This first weekend of June was very busy for your local volunteer fire department. Between Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the OPVFD responded to 23 EMS and eight FIRE incidents including two gas leaks, two vehicle fires, two multi-vehicle accidents, and a helicopter standby and a mutual-aide medic assist. As we continue to move into the busy summer months, please use extreme caution whenever you see an emergency vehicle on the roads of our community.
REMINDER: Our volunteer FIRE and EMS members respond from their homes, restaurants, stores etc. whenever the department is dispatched for an incident. These folks have signed up to put their personal lives on hold to help others in their time of need and work alongside our full-time career staff. If you think you have what it takes to be an amazing volunteer, please reach out to us. We are always interested in adding another strong member to our team!
