On Sunday, July 24, 2022, the Ocean Pines Vol. Fire Department was alerted for a residential structure fire; Worcester Central advised that the caller could smell smoke in the house and all occupants were out of the house. Additional responses were requested from the Berlin, Bishopville, Ocean City, and Showell fire Departments.
Upon their arrival, crews investigated the source of the smoke and determined it was related to the structure's electrical system. After consultation with the Worcester County Fire Marshal's office, the power was secured to the residence and the homeowners were advised to consult an electrician.
