Residential Structure Fire on Ocean Parkway

OCEAN PINES, MD – On the evening of March 25, 2025, at approximately 9:43 PM, the Ocean Pines Volunteer Fire Department (OPVFD) was dispatched to a reported residential structure fire in the 1100 block of Ocean Parkway. Upon arrival, initial crews observed visible flames within a bedroom in the rear of the single-family home.

Firefighters quickly initiated an aggressive fire attack, working to contain the fire and prevent further spread. Crews gained access to the affected areas, extinguishing the main body of fire while ensuring no extension into other parts of the structure. During the early stages of the incident, a firefighter who was responding to the station stopped at the scene and promptly closed open doors, helping to contain the fire to the bedroom and limit further damage. The fire was declared under control at approximately 10:09 PM.

Mutual aid was provided by multiple neighboring fire departments, and additional units were staged for support. The residence was safely evacuated prior to the fire department’s arrival, and no injuries were reported among residents or responders.

The OPVFD would like to thank all responding agencies for their assistance and reminds residents to check that their smoke alarms are functioning properly. Additionally, we encourage everyone to close interior and exterior doors when evacuating, as this can help slow the spread of fire and smoke, providing valuable time for escape and emergency response.

The scene was turned over to the Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office for investigation. The cause of the fire remains under review at this time.
